On Salad Wraps and Food Photography

Quick Salad Wrap (Taco) Recipe:
Super quick and easy recipe that when you buy the ingredients for it they last for at least 3-4 servings.

Ingredients:
Tortilla
Avocado
Canned Corn
Tomatos
Onion
Ranch
Spinach
Mexican Cheese

I spread the avocado and ranch down the centre of the tortilla first, then added the rest in layer by layer. It's quick, easy, healthy, and requires minimal preparation.

On Food Photography:
A lot of blogs I follow focus on taking pictures of their prep in gorgeous lighting with finely chopped food and beautiful kitchen ware. I don't have that. I have a 1 dollar cutting board, a knife that has pink and white stripes going down it, and plastic mixing bowls from Walmart. My process isn't gorgeous, so I don't post pictures of it. I don't feel the need to anyway. The final product siting on my kitchen counter is probably the best it's going to get.

Feta Quiche and Asparagus

I attempted to make a quiche last night for my roommate and I. In saying that I actually succeeded at making the quiche but it took 20 extra minutes in our oven because our oven is slightly really awful.

Anyways.

I made a quiche, grilled asparagus, and a spinach salad. And it turned out deliciously.

Ingredients:
Feta Cheese
Milk (1 cup)
Eggs (4)
Frozen Pie Crust
***
Asparagus
Vegetable Oil
***
Spinach Leaves
Tomatos
Carrots
Dressing

Part of the reason I like the recipe is because it's so easy and so good. All you have to do is cover the bottom of the pie crust with about half an inch of crumbled feta. You mix the eggs and milk in another bowl and then pour it on top of the feta and slip it in the oven on 350 degrees. Simple right?
For the asparagus, we don't have a grill so I put them on a pan and poured some vegetable oil on top (move the asparagus around until the oil is evenly spread) then put them in the oven for around 15 minutes. These were big asparagus so adjust the time if you use the skinny ones.

And that makes a great dinner. With tons of left over quiche.

The introduction

If you've found this blog, you're probably interested in cooking, college, or cooking in college. Sorry to let you down, but I know about as much as a 4 year old does on cooking. It's not exactly my forte. My mother even bought me a 'cookbook for college kids' as a nice please get your shit together present.

This is where this blog comes in. I'm going to be teaching myself how to cook, slowly but surely and on a budget, since I have a full kitchen this year. And this is where I'm going to post my failures and successes until I accidentally burn my building down and get cooking privileges taken away from me. I've been living off of cereal up until this point, so let's take the dive. And try to stop being this guy.
